When I first took Kōjin-embroidery classes, my teacher's initial assignment was to make a drawstring pouch.
The pouch I made as a complete beginner was usable, but naturally, it had a multitude of small imperfections.
Now, the pouches I create finally pass my own quality control.
Practice truly leads to improvement ̮̈♡
This time, I've used cherished Japanese cat fabric to create a pouch,
enhanced with the traditional Kōjin-embroidery motif "Neko no managu" (cat's eyes).
It's truly the perfect combination~
The pouch features a gusseted bottom, allowing it to hold more small essentials.
*Fabric is limited, so each drawstring pouch is released in a limited quantity.*

**[ The Story of Kōjin Embroidery ]**
Kōjin embroidery is an embroidery technique originating from the Tsugaru region of Aomori Prefecture, Japan. In the late Edo period, under the sumptuary law "Regulation on the Frugality of Farmers," commoners were prohibited from using cotton fabric. However, clothing made from hemp fabric could not withstand the long, snowy, and humid cold climate of the Tohoku region. Therefore, farmers threaded extra threads into the gaps of the hemp fabric to improve insulation and strengthen the cloth, leading to the development of "Kōjin embroidery."
Embroidery involves counting the warp threads of the fabric (simply put, counting squares) and performing straight stitches row by row. If even one square is missed, the entire piece must be unraveled and redone. Thus, every stitch in Kōjin embroidery is a test of eyesight and patience, a craft that demands meticulousness and dedication.
