This is an SDGs jewelry piece featuring kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics by Kiki Kiln, an Arita Ware potter from Saga Prefecture.
Broken or chipped ceramics that are no longer in use are upcycled and finished with kintsugi to create accessories.
The concept behind these pieces is to bring the beauty of nature and Japan's enduring traditions closer to you, transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future and create new possibilities.
We have joined two different colored ceramic fragments with kintsugi and adorned them with small freshwater pearls.
The pale, elegant blue glaze has a textured surface, beautifully showcasing a gradation of light and dark shades.
Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the ceramic fragments, so the gold accents are visible from the side as well, adding a touch of refinement.
These earrings are perfect as a statement piece for both casual and elegant outfits.
Length: 12 x 20mm
Hardware: Screw-back earrings (hardware cannot be changed)
Weight: Although made from ceramic fragments, they are lightweight and comfortable to wear.
As these are one-of-a-kind accessories, they make an ideal gift.
They are also perfect for gifting to someone special.
*As these are finished products, we cannot accommodate requests for hardware changes or re-production.
*We will send the item shown in the photos. However, if the item has already been sold on another site, it may be made to order. In such cases, please note that there may be individual differences in color, pattern, and size of the ceramic fragments and natural stones compared to the photos.
*Kintsugi is a unique Japanese traditional repair method that uses lacquer and gold powder to mend broken or chipped ceramics. This work uses a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional urushi (natural lacquer), this method uses adhesive for bonding.
The kintsugi parts use lacquer (a paint made by a manufacturer, not raw lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
