While minor impacts are generally harmless, it's advisable to prevent them (e.g., accidentally dropping it on the floor). Occasionally, you can open the cap to air it out. For instance, after every 4-5 uses, open the cap to allow the inside of the bottle and the cap to dry completely. This will extend the life of the cork stopper. The connector at the end of the chain is a C-clasp. Pulling it may widen the opening and cause it to loosen. Please do not pull forcefully.
