The first impression of the fishing village was when I went to Yunlin Taixi and saw the oyster farmers on the street peeling their shells. The children were helping with an unwilling expression. Unlike children who don’t want to do their homework, it’s hard to just deal with the matter of peeling oysters. No matter how reluctant, you have to work hard to complete it.
The second time I walked down the trail at the corner of the nose and wandered around the Fuliyu Village under the scorching sun. I don't know the work and rest of life in the fishing village. There were no people on the road in the fishing village. The gray building settlement was empty and silent. The only thing moving at this time seemed to be the quilts on the walls and balconies of many houses. Although the houses look the same, the design of each quilt is very distinctive. In the strong wind and scorching sun, not drying the quilt is like not going out to play in good weather.
The child's body is a reference to Winifred Margaret Tarrant's "A Fairy Band". In this picture, the fairy standing on a mushroom directing the band. In contrast, my paintings are still too stiff, especially the extended left hand and the forward-leaning body, which are not so vivid. In addition, although the fairies in the painting "A Fairy Band" do not have much difference in their outfits, the various angles of their faces and limbs can still create a rich and lively picture. I think the face and body must be practiced.
Perhaps the dark tone of the picture is different from the aforementioned situation of drying the quilt under the sun. Some people even said that the physical expressions of the characters seemed to be on fire, which did not match the leisure atmosphere that the breeze gave. I want to explain that from the experience of drying quilts, it is impossible to always be so smooth with the sun and the breeze. And when this quilt drying scene has encountered dark clouds and the sky is about to change, the quilt must be taken into the house before it rains. I don’t know if the weather at the beach changes so much, but I want to draw the feeling of hurrying.
The situation of this painting is very similar to the experience of this painting. This painting made me particularly feel that my painting process is not as gradual as a painting teaching video, but hesitation, remedy, and modification back and forth. For a long time, I have never been able to finish a painting calmly like a painting film; I have too many emotions before and after painting, whether it is reconciliation with memories, dissatisfaction with the painting, and letting go of thinking. Try to make up for the bad place, always thinking about what to do.
