Taiwan's geographical location fosters a rich diversity of fruits, with market stalls brimming with them seemingly everywhere you look. Fruit platters in local ice fruit parlors present another charming scene. Grown on this land, different seasons offer a chance to savor a variety of delicious fruit flavors. As summer arrives, a cool glass of juice paired with a refreshing fruit postcard invites you to pen a message, rekindling the charm of old-fashioned correspondence. This collection features nine Taiwanese fruit postcards, each with a short narrative on the back, reflecting scenes encountered during the creative process.
This one is: Banana
In my memory, banana trees by the field ridges / growing endlessly / dear Grandpa / laden with fruit.
Although the illustration depicts a monkey enjoying a banana, while creating this postcard, I found myself thinking of Grandpa. I love the shape of banana leaves and the sound of rain hitting them. The banana trees Grandpa planted are no longer here, and during a recent conversation with my father, I urged him to plant a new one for me.
