It contains no harmful substances to the human body, making it suitable for leather goods that come into direct contact with skin. It is considered an eco-friendly leather. ● Color Variations in Vegetable-Tanned Leather Primary color vegetable-tanned leather deepens in color and becomes more lustrous and supple with use over time. Colored vegetable-tanned leather is dyed using non-polluting pigments in the most natural way. While black may not show as dramatic a color change as the primary color, it will still develop a beautiful, rich sheen with long-term use. The most common marks include insect bites, growth lines, brands, and scars (holes). Scars (holes) are typically avoided in production. During their lives, cows may encounter friction with other cattle or insect bites.
