Showcasing the Beauty of Traditional Chinese Characters This piece highlights the beauty and versatility of traditional Chinese characters. The characters "臺灣" (Taiwan) are artfully shaped to form the island of Taiwan (a registered trademark of Taiwan's glyph art). Through the arrangement of the brush strokes, the central mountain range and the western plains' topography are depicted. Notably, six dots within the "糸" radical of the character "灣" (wan) are intentionally made to "disappear," representing the six outlying islands of Taiwan: Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, Little Liuqiu, Green Island, and Orchid Island. This island glyph is then used to design six representative animals from Taiwan: the butterfly, the fiddler crab, the green sea turtle, the Formosan black bear, the black-faced spoonbill, and the Lanyu scops-owl. 2. The Rich Biodiversity of Taiwan Despite its small size of approximately 36,000 square kilometers, an area almost imperceptible on a world map, Taiwan boasts a stunning natural environment and resources.
