Back of card text: Steam Locomotive In 1907, during the construction of the Alishan Forest Railway, a 13-ton steam locomotive was imported from LIMA, USA (hereinafter referred to as "steam engine"). Unlike typical steam engines, its cylinders are vertical and it uses bevel gears. These two special designs were made to suit the needs of a mountain railway. Diesel Locomotive In 1926, to meet the demands of the logging lines, a 7-ton internal combustion locomotive manufactured by Kato Works, Japan, was introduced.
