/ Product Description & Story /
As far back as the 15th century, the Maya and Aztec civilizations used inkwood for purple and black dyes.
In today's world filled with chemicals, natural dyes offer a special, warm embrace.
The process of plant dyeing is quite intricate: from scouring the fabric, binding/sewing patterns, preparing the dye materials, boiling the dye liquid, mordanting, boiling again, cooling to set the color, to rinsing... It typically requires dyeing twice for the color to be truly saturated and beautiful. Only then can it be de-watered and air-dried.
Every step influences the final outcome, which is precisely why plant-dyed items are so unique.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind.
Does this women's tee feel like it has patchwork?
By using different mordants twice, the overlapping dyeing process creates at least three color gradients.
The deeper the color, the more dye it has absorbed – it's not a stain!

Caring for your plant-dyed garment:
1. Please hand wash gently with a neutral, non-fluorescent, bleach-free detergent and air dry. Low-temperature ironing is also an option (though a simple rinse with water is usually sufficient).
2. Slight color fading may occur during the first wash; please wash separately from other garments.
3. Plant-dyed items become more beautiful with age.
A special note: the pigment from inkwood is sensitive to acids. Please avoid contact with any acidic substances.
Human sweat is acidic; wearing the garment may cause small spots when it encounters sweat. These will disappear after rinsing with water.
