Ancient Greek philosopher, mathematician, and physicist Archimedes once said, "Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world." The design team, however, took an unconventional approach. They chose to alter the visual center of gravity of the tape dispenser. By offsetting the sphere, employing a polished mirror finish, and utilizing a minimalist L-shaped cantilever design, 《Cantili》 achieves a visually light, floating sensation, diverging from the usual heavy appearance of tape dispensers.
To ensure stability and one-handed usability, this design incorporates substantial metal mass. Yet, through the ingenious recessed curve of the mirrored disc, it presents an unparalleled visual lightness, creating a striking contrast. The subtle concave curvature of the disc, in particular, posed a significant challenge for the polishing craftsmanship. Driven by the design team's dedication, it took nine months of development to finally achieve this uncompromising design.
This ingenious design even earned praise from architectural master Norman Foster and his wife, who, after personally experiencing 《Cantili》, lauded it as a "remarkably good value" design.
