"Boat Studio" was founded with the philosophy that art is ubiquitous, and "Boat Magazine" draws inspiration from the five human senses. This special issue, "Illusion," follows the "Tactile," "Olfactory," and "Auditory" issues. It's an earnest endeavor to dream a little dream, to sincerely engage with the alluring "illusion" beyond our five senses, while also attempting to unveil the realities that lie beneath these phantoms.

**Foreword:**
Unknowingly, we have arrived at the future we anticipated in childhood, which is now. In our early thirties, many dreams remain unfulfilled, forgotten, or perhaps, have transformed. The dreams we once had, diligently sketched in childhood notebooks—like the ideal of buying a house in Taipei to have a floor each for family members, or getting married and having children by twenty-five while pursuing an artistic career that allowed for extensive travel—now, upon review, seem like contradictory and naive fantasies. Our inner selves are no longer as pure as they once were, and the external environment has evolved to a point where the possibilities of our old dreams no longer fit.
Having lived back in Taiwan for two years, I occasionally recall the illusory dreams we chased together in New York. Those familiar foreign scenes, now distant yet still profound, leave us increasingly uncertain. After crossing the Pacific and many lands, what did we truly say during those beautiful past days in New York? And which were merely dreams we once had?
Some say reality is merely a very persistent illusion, like Zhuangzi dreaming of a butterfly. The sensory stimuli our environment provides may not have a direct connection to this feeling. Even if the broader environment is cruel and dirty, through illusion, everything can still be beautiful. It is the projection of inner desires, or perhaps, one's own one-sided imagination. Luxurious developments that are overly exploited yet unaffordable, a society that appears progressive but causes environmental regression, cuisine filled with artificiality and chemical toxins... Every single day, this world manufactures many bubble-like dreams, constructing beautiful yet false mirages.
Following "Tactile," "Olfactory," and "Auditory" issues, "Boat Magazine" aims to earnestly dream a little dream, to sincerely engage with the alluring "illusion" beyond our five senses, while also attempting to unveil the realities that lie beneath these phantoms.
