We combine traditional Chinese characters into the images of four indigenous Taiwanese animals. With them dancing on the tableware, you are invited to appreciate the profound culture that finds expression in those words while savoring the dishes.
【Loving Butterflies】
This product features the Taiwanese broad-tailed butterfly, a species that has conspicuous white spots on the hindwings. Butterflies are often seen in pairs interweaving their courses around flowers, a perfect image for harmony, felicity, and profound love.
(Taiwanese Broad-Tailed Butterfly)
A critically endangered species of butterfly endemic to Taiwan. An imago with wings fully spread measures 9.5-10 cm in width. The forewings are dark brown. The hindwings, with conspicuous white spots at the centers and red crescent-patterned marks on the fringes, project out long and broad at the tails that earn the species its name. Females are bigger in size but there is no difference in shape and mottled pattern between the two sexes. Taiwanese broad-tailed butterflies were first found in a mountainous area in Yilan in 1932. They are mainly distributed in the woodlands at altitudes from 1,000 to 2,000 meters in central and northern Taiwan. They can be seen as far south as Kaohsiung. Its beauty and rarity earn the species the title of the “national butterfly of Taiwan.”
