Take Pleasure in Words- Ancient script style ~ Lucky Deer

Product Description

Enchanted with the power of Chinese ancient script, Wantz brings to your tableware this ancient world of pictographic and ideographic beauty. With Chinese words dancing on the porcelains and ancient scripts as background, you are invited to savor the dishes, and appreciate the infinite possibilities of combining these words - into the shapes of indigenous animals of Taiwan.

【Lucky Deer】
This product features the Formosan sika deer, which is renowned for the white, apricot flower-shaped spots on its back. Since antiquity, the Chinese have taken the deer as a symbol of longevity. In the Chinese language, the deer also shares the same pronunciation as wealth. Hence, we present the Lucky Deer with the best wishes for your health, happiness, and affluence.

Formosan Sika Deer
A subspecies of sika deer endemic to Taiwan, known for the conspicuous white spots on the back. Males are larger and the antlers start to shoot one year after birth, branching out each year and stopping at the age of five. Females are smaller and without antlers. Hills, woodlands, and plains under 200 meters elevation are their natural habitat. During the times of Dutch and Spanish rule, great need for their skins had put them on the brink of extinction. After 1969, they virtually disappeared in the wild owing to exploitation of habitat and excessive hunting. What is visible in Kenting National Park and Green Island nowadays multiply from a founder population reintroduced through government-supervised projects.
