Vegetable Tanning, or Vegetable Tanning, is a traditional method that uses tannins extracted from plants and fruits to cure leather. Animal hides are immersed in plant-based tanning agents and steeped for months, resulting in durable leather. As natural vegetable tanning agents contain no chemicals, it is considered the most environmentally friendly method of leather processing. Its color will deepen over time. The tanning agents are natural and safe for skin contact. Care Tips: Before first use, it is recommended to apply a uniform layer of leather conditioner all over. New, unconditioned leather may develop watermarks if exposed to water; these should diminish after air drying. Surface damage to genuine leather is typically caused not by clean water, but by dirt or chemical substances. Regular conditioning with oil will form a protective patina on the leather's surface, enhancing its water and stain resistance, deepening its luster, and reducing the appearance of scratches. Genuine leather can mold easily when exposed to humidity. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight should also be avoided. If spots appear during oiling, these are deep color variations within the leather and will normalize after air drying. For naturally dyed leather (excluding the original color), as there is no surface coating or synthetic fiber processing, slight color transfer may occur during initial polishing with a white cloth. After long-term care and patina development, the color will be stabilized by the oxidized layer of the patina.
