Burmese teak, also known as annatto, is a broad-leaved tree, belonging to the teak genus of the Lamiaceae (or Verbenaceae). Generally grown in South Asia or Southeast Asia, teak is produced in Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Borneo, Java, and Burma. The most famous one is Myanmar. It is recognized that the percentage of oil in Burmese teak is the most abundant in each producing area. Wood species are precious woods, with the reputation of "King of Ten Thousand Woods" and the title of "World Class One Wood". The use of Burmese teak is mainly heartwood, with dark brown color, oily wood, straight wood texture, and slightly thicker wood muscle. The sapwood is yellow-white, the edge and heartwood are clearly distinguished, the annual rings are obviously fine, the mechanical properties are strong, the dryness is good, the shrinkage is small, the wood is tough, the durability is high, and the resistance to fungi and insects is strong.
