This necklace from Norway, 1950-1980s, is made of sterling silver and gilded with relief enamel.
The necklace comes from the famous Norwegian brand Aksel Holmsen. The founder Aksel Holmsen learned from David-Andersen and is famous for his exquisite relief enamel decoration technology. Most of his designs use simple aesthetics to showcase Nordic natural themes.
The work uses double layers of black and white enamel to form an elegant and generous dryas (Dryas octopetala), this hardy plant commonly found in Norway has star-shaped white flowers and dark receptacles, and is a symbol of tenacity that can adapt to extreme environments.
The brand presents the floral features of the fairywood in a stylized shape, and decorates the light and shadow changes of the background with delicate white embossed enamel. The black enamel structure on both sides extends the visual effect, and the flowing style adds a soft touch to the overall outline.
The piece is in good condition as an old piece, with normal signs of oxidation and wear, the enamel is almost intact, and the back is printed with STERLING/NORWAY/925S and the maker's print. Oxidation is more obvious in some areas, so it is an old piece of jewelry and not in brand new condition.
