Glaze can have some defects during firing, e.g. tiny pinholes, glaze crackles (not clay cracks) and glaze shrinkage are all normal. How to care for ceramics 1. Ceramics are dishwasher and microwave safe. Avoid using ceramics in oven (unless it is fire clay), glaze can crack under drastic temperature change. 2. Avoid using wire brush when cleaning ceramics, use sponge instead. 3. Avoid exposure to direct flame (unless it is fire clay). 4. Glaze can have cracks after prolonged use. It is normal for tea or coffee to seep through the cracks. To avoid tea or coffee from seeping into the cracks, clean ceramics immediately after use. 5. Exposed clay without glaze are porous, oil from hands can seep in, giving ceramics a shiny look, this is normal. 6. Ceramics are brittle and fragile, avoid compressing them, glaze can crack under pressure.
