After molding the clay into small cups, we applied a brush pattern using colorful decorative mud. The colors of the cosmetic mud I chose were purplish blue, pink, and deep green, reminiscent of the colors of hydrangeas that delight our eyes during the rainy season. It is larger than a typical sake cup, but slightly smaller than a teacup. It can also be used for Japanese sake, Chinese tea, and small amounts of sencha and roasted green tea. I use a small electric kiln and an electric potter's wheel at home to make my pottery, and I do all of the processes by hand, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing. Although we cannot mass-produce them, each one has its own unique character and you can enjoy the flavor that comes from being made by hand.
