This is an organization that produces organic cotton products, which are popular among People Tree products, and is located in the southernmost state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. We buy organic, Fairtrade certified cotton grown in India and make everything from dresses to lingerie.
We provide safe and supportive work and living environments for women in difficult circumstances. Women received fair wages and bonuses after working for three to five years, and some started sewing at home.
It is also the first production plant in a developing country to be certified by the Soil Association, a British organic certification body, and to meet the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).
As a garment factory that only produces organic cotton, we provide employment opportunities for women with disabilities and poor families.
