Eighteen Districts Mantian Gods and Buddhas
Eighteen districts are full of gods and Buddhas, and there is always one nearby.
Seven Sisters, Eight Immortals, Hua Guang, Lu Ban, Ji Gong, Yue Lao Wen Chang, Guan Gong, Northern Emperor Yang Hou, Hong Sheng, Tan Gong, Da Wang Ye, Second Bo Gong, Tai Shang Lao Jun, Three Mountain Kings, Golden Flower Granny, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Avalokitesvara, Queen of Heaven, and Huang Daxian... Countless... The gods are scattered in the outlying islands of Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories, and the number of Tin Hau temples is the highest in Hong Kong. Each deity has its own legend and "divine power", and is more or less related to the history of Hong Kong, witnessing the changes of the community and Hong Kong.
In the Spring 2020 issue of "Just Hong Kong", illustrator Carmen Ng created a map of "Eighteen Districts full of gods and Buddhas" in a hand-painted way, presenting the characteristic gods in different communities with a relaxed cartoon technique, which makes the original sitting in a tight spot The idol looks more approachable.
