These are original dolls and ball-jointed dolls made from stone powder clay, one-of-a-kind pieces with cloth pasted onto the clay.
This tiny doll fits in the palm of your hand and is designed to resemble a goldfish mermaid.
Inspired by old pink cloth, I created a doll with a soft, Japanese feel.
Some parts are made using ball-jointed doll structure and are rubberized so they can be posed and removed from the wooden display stand for enjoyment.
The human parts are covered with Edo Chirimen silk (100% silk).
The face is painted with pastel and Acrylic, the hair is made of embroidery thread, and the hair ornament is a plum flower lover made of crepe and tsumami zaiku. This cannot be removed, but the bib-like outfit is removable.
The lower half of the fish body is made of old silk crepe "Kinsha"
The vintage fabric used has an auspicious pattern centered around plum blossoms, with some crane patterns included. The fins are trimmed with Ise kumihimo, and all the threads and accessories were selected to match the atmosphere of the vintage fabric.
The amount of old cloth is limited, and the scraps used in this work have a small area, making it difficult to get the same pattern and therefore impossible to create two identical pieces.
The original dolls are also made from clay, so each one is slightly different.
