The scouring of the waves showed her desire for freedom, but the moonlight left her in this illusory garden.

'Utopian Wandering' Literary Beer & Drinking Glass Set
Inspiration for this item:
Utopian awaits in the sharing and enjoyment of stories
Different languages, cultural narratives, and historical settings have shaped and sharpened Taiwan literature through the centuries into the rich literary ecology of today. This literary journey has been replete with missteps and detours. Some authors have blazed their own trail, while others have made the journey in the company of like-minded creators. It has been a journey ripe with imaginative wanderings, freedom, and lofty ideals. The crystallization into the written word of rich, poetic inspirations breathes aesthetic rhyme and rhythm into everyday life.
NMTL's “NMTL's Archive Select - Sparks of Taiwan Literary Inspiration” weaves the theme “utopian wandering” into its beer and drinking glass set with imprints of items and poems from three Taiwan poetry societies of distinctly different historical periods, including the 'Le Moulin', Nanmei Rakuenshya (Southern Seas Paradise), and Banxian poetry societies. Poets flexed their artistic finesse and formed societies with those who shared their passions, creating a utopia of diverse airs and voices.
We've partnered with Taiwan-based Tsai's Actual Brewing Co. and the industrial crafts company GOODGLAS to introduce this 'Utopian Wandering' Literary Beer & Drinking Glass Set. At the crossroads of literature and food, choose your preferred historical setting and wander through a utopian story of your very own.

Utopian Wandering – 'Moonlight Reflections' Double-walled Drinking Glass
Inspired by National Museum of Taiwan Literature collection item Le Moulin Poetry Journal, No. 3.
Moon Garden: Bathed by moonlight; Intimations of an age-old courtyard
The illustration here was inspired by another of NMTL's archive treasures, The Journal of Le Moulin Poetry Society, Volume 3, and a line from a Japanese-language poem in this journal by Lee Chang-jui entitled 'Hurubita Tei-en' (Ancient Garden ). Under the strictures of night, a young woman yearns for freedom that remains tauntingly out of her reach. Waves crashing upon a rocky shore symbolize her desires for liberation. Yet moonlight keeps her trapped inside this imaginary garden.
Le Moulin Poetry Society was known for blending the surreal and the everyday in its works. Pour your favorite beverages into this glass and watch the moon and tidewaters rise and fall against their liquescent colors, creating a narrative just for you. Bask in the imaginative fancy of a surrealist poem and its whimsical dreamscape.
