In the early 18th century, Moriyoshi Rokuzaemon HATA, the head of the Tanba-Sasayama area in what is now Kyoto Prefecture, founded a store called "SASAYA". Rokubei Moritsune HATA, who represents the third generation of the HATA family engaged in incense making, began to combine the incense making methods he learned while working at the Kyoto Imperial Palace. He utilized the secret traditions of the court blending incense, recipes previously reserved only for members of the royal family. Nearly three hundred years later, the HATA family continues the legacy of their innovative ancestors, offering a variety of unique handcrafted blends. Passed down from generation to generation, Shoyeido has been recognized as the highest quality and most natural incense in the world.
Shoeido's high-end incense uses a centuries-old formula, contains fine sandalwood and precious agarwood, and is handmade by highly skilled craftsmen.
Matsu-no-tomo/Friend of Pine "Friend of Pine" has a fresh and cool fragrance that is reminiscent of the breeze through ancient pine forests.
