Running script, divided into Xingkai and Xingcao, is a handwritten font style in Chinese calligraphy. According to legend, it was created by Liu Desheng during the Eastern Han Dynasty. Tang Dynasty Zhang Huaiyun’s "Shu Duan" had this view on the origin of running script: “Running script is the original script (normal script), which is small and false. It should be simple and popular, so it is called running script." Since the Jin Dynasty, most calligraphers have concurrently worked as working script. Among them, the most famous is Wang Xizhi and his "Lanting Preface".
"The Manuscript of Sacrifice to the Naked Woman" is Yan Zhenqing's famous running script. It has vivid emotions, so it is hailed as "the second running script in the world."
"Han Shi Tie" was written at Dongpo Xuetang during the third year of Su Shi's relegation to Huangzhou during the Cold Food Festival. It is one of the most proud works in his life. It is called "The First Book of Su Shu". The calligrapher Xian Yushu praised it as the successor to the book. "Lanting Preface" and "Manuscript of Sacrifice", "The Third Line of the World".
