Product Description

This tea bowl was thrown on the potters wheel in Taiwan. I have a small workshop where I enjoy making tea bowls from. Having lived in Asia for almost 20 years now I have grown to appreciate the form and function of tea bowls. Having said that I think this bowl could also be easily used as a rice or even noodle bowl. The clay body I used was a Japanese red clay that I get imported to my home in Taiwan. I wanted to add some texture and feel to this bowl. Having a tea bowl feel good in the hands where ones finger tips can explore the surface is always on my mind as I them. To create this I have used many things - mostly from nature but also from the cooking utensil aisle in a supermarket! For the texture on this bowl I used a toothy grooved tool that I bought at a bakery shop. I tried adding some movement to give some life to the bowl. This bowl was wood fired for 4 days. The firing is intense and magical. I added no glaze to this pot whatsoever. The melted wood ash reacted with the raw clay. Some parts are shiny, others are not. My chop mark is found near the foot ring. It's a nice pot. You won't be disappointed. Detailed dimensions: Volume: 450 ml Height: 8 cm Width: 10.5 cm Weight: 343 g
